Danse Macabre - By Saint Saens.
Op. 40 This is a tone poem for orchestra, written in 1874 by composer Camille Saint-Saëns. Starting out in 1872 as a song for voice and piano with a French text by the poet Henri Cazalis, based on an old French superstition. In 1874, the composer expanded and reworked the piece into a tone poem, replacing the vocal line with a solo violin. According to legend, "Death" appears at midnight evach Halloween. He calls forth the dead from their graves to dance for him while he plays his fiddle represented by a solo violin. His skeletons dance for him until the rooster crows at dawn, when they must return to their graves until the next year. On this occasion I have used the music like a score and as instrumental , there is no 'dialogue' just like the episode. Reviews
SSA Awards Long but great Hush episodic. I loved the music, I have such a vague recollection of this song, I think it may have been used in the episode as it matched your episodic so incredibly well. I think it fit perfectly and I loved watching it cause it showed it in order from beginning to end, I loved that when the song got softer you had the Riley and Buffy kiss which in a time of fear was rather romantic. I’m not a fan of the episode Hush but you managed to pick the ideal music and timed it to perfection. In addition you allowed the viewer to understand the whole episode in just over six minutes as well as the progression of Willow and Tara / Buffy and Riley’s relationship. |
